Plant Journeyman

(PJ)

The Limited Journeyman Plant Electrician is relegated to making electrical installations in a plant setting under the supervision of a Supervising Electrician. The definition of an “Industrial Plant” (OAR 918-251 0090(18)) is a vital piece to understanding what a PJ is legally able to work on.

The definition of an “Industrial Plant” (OAR 918-251-0090(18)) is a vital piece to understanding what a PJ is legally able to work on. Condensing the definition here for better explanation to understand that a PJ can work on a single-family residence as long as it is under the same ownership, such as staff housing for Oregon State Park personnel. Multi-family dorm-style housing on a college campus. Also working on multiple office buildings that are under the same ownership. The PJ license allows the holder to install, maintain electrical wiring and associated products in a manufacturing or industrial plant owned or used by the employer.
